We start our process with a consultation to determine the specifications of the project so that we can provide a written estimate. There are so many options when building a website. Our goal is to target your needs and discover your ideas on how you would like to present yourself on the Web. The estimate reflects the agreed upon services and products necessary to create your website. We begin work after we receive a signed estimate and a deposit - typically 1/3 of the total estimate.

The average project proceeds in the following manner:

1. Design
   Whether we are creating your website design for you or you are using an outside designer, we establish what the final design of the website will be. When we create designs for you, we post mockups of each design and revision online for your review until we arrive at a final approved design.
2. Build
   Once the design is established, we apply that design to the planned pages of your website. This means creating every graphic, style format, and all the links for the entire site. We have a development area set aside so that we can prepare your web pages even as we make arrangements for your own website hosting.
3. Host
   Your website needs a place to live. A web host provides the space to house your website. When we establish your hosting, we then install any necessry software and transfer the prepared files and graphics to your web host, and ensure that everything about your website runs correctly.
4. Go Live
   When we confirm that your website meets the estimate, we "unveil" your website by assigning your domain name to your website. Until the domain name is assigned to your website, the site will only be accessible via its IP address, known only to you and DJW. Assigning the domain name to your IP address gives the site the desired URL, for example "www.djwcustomdesigns.com".

A simple starter website usually consists of 8-10 pages and can be completed in as little as 1 to 3 weeks, depending on how quickly DJW receives the necessary information for the site. A larger, database-driven e-commerce site takes somewhat longer, taking up to 15 to 20 weeks depending on the complexity of the project and the total number of pages. We can provide you with a firmer completion time when we receive the signed estimate.
